Basically, being on all fours or leaning over the edge of the tub or over a birth ball and doing pelvic rocks. Also, the relief from the water tub will be amazing too. Its amazing to me how many scans some people are having now! I dont feel worried about not seeing the baby or anything. Its hard to not know the gender, but i dont want to know and i always see it on the screen before the tech does :) so i dont want to take teh chance of spoiling the surprise!Mrs.Wyliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10053264515831821630noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562883440615628271.post-57723085093355730672011-01-07T23:32:20.578-08:002011-01-07T23:32:20.578-08:00Was at a breastfeeding study day once, and somethi...Was at a breastfeeding study day once, and something that the person taking it said, really hit home. She was talking about the UNICEF baby friendly guidelines, and she said that baby friendly is so much more than just breastfeeding your baby. She was talking about how breastfeeding mums cuddle their babies close, stroke them, talk to them. Babies that are breastfed have better brain development, in part due to to goodness of breastmilk but also because their mothers interact better with them. So true! I always tell bottlefeeding mums to cuddle their babies in, talk to them etc. Babies and their mothers are a diad, not two individuals...

Sadly, our breastfeeding rates in NI are really bad, only about 50% of women initiate it, and very few are still feeding at 8 weeks!! Most women here haven't even seen a baby being breastfed, so it just doesn't seem "natural" to most women!!Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06308043275736826339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562883440615628271.post-53324802112930043052011-01-07T23:23:41.107-08:002011-01-07T23:23:41.107-08:00Interesting... we don't measure around tummys,...Interesting... we don't measure around tummys, just the fundal height - ie from the top of the bump down to the symphysis (pelvic bone), but you don't tend to get an accurate measurement if the baby isn't lying "up and down", like yours, because you are supposed to follow the curve of the baby.

FYI, if your placenta is to the front, you are a little bit more likely to have a back labour, as the baby tends to curve around the contours of the placenta, and ends up with his (or her back) pressed up against yours.

We usually only do two scans here - one at the start of the pregnancy to get accurate dates, and one around 20 weeks to check for anomalies... research shows that there is no added benefit to repeated scans. Although I do those initial dating scans, and there is something very special about seeing your baby for the first time I think! I'm definitely with you, don't think I would want lots and lots of scans...

Check out a news story about our little midwifery led unit... scroll down this week's news item, we're right at the bottom!

http://www.thedownrecorder.co.uk/index.phpRebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06308043275736826339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562883440615628271.post-30635334752204941242011-01-02T09:44:45.565-08:002011-01-02T09:44:45.565-08:00this was a cute blog!!!this was a cute blog!!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17636964732373305385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562883440615628271.post-46767290111461506732011-01-02T09:38:52.197-08:002011-01-02T09:38:52.197-08:00i loved this post cuz it the honesty also! when i ...i loved this post cuz it the honesty also! when i was growing up i cared alot about what others thought of me and how i was and who i was and then things happened in life that really sucked and it changed me immensely and i realized ya know what, the only thing that matters is what i think and if u dont like me for me then bug off, so i say you go girl, express yourself and your opinions and if others dont like it o wellAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17636964732373305385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562883440615628271.post-90758449606505467062011-01-01T14:03:05.653-08:002011-01-01T14:03:05.653-08:00You gotta post some videos from crazy chick! I'm sure you say a lot of things people feel but are afraid to say. You are the brave one to share them.
I work in the medical field, and I agree, sadly people mostly are just "numbers" no one really cares, but if they do, they are the exception, like you said.
I encourage you to keep doing what you believe is right (I know you will, anyways), and i will pray that more people would be like you. I'm sure we would have much less teen pregnancies, medical problems and so on.
Also, women gave birth at home for thousands of years, why do we need hospitals now?JessicaLockehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18173072345601455891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562883440615628271.post-10863284667357260842010-12-27T06:45:03.848-08:002010-12-27T06:45:03.848-08:00ooo Jessica!!! so excited you started a blog! can...ooo Jessica!!! so excited you started a blog! cant wait to read more=)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17636964732373305385noreply@blogger.com
